Cloverpaw now had a smile on her face. Some how, the elder had given her hope. How he had, was a mystery to even her. "Thank you. She would love to have company other than me. " she purred. "I guess you are right, Hollykit probably does need me. I'll try and bring her by later." the apprentice said. "Good thing she isn't heavy." she added with a slight laugh. Realizing she had probably been with Stormshadows too long, she gave a quick nod. "I'll be back later with Hollykit, and more fresh-kill." she murmered and ran back to the spot she had been waiting in. Stormshadows was right about one thing, Cloverpaw needed to tell Nightstar about her sister not eating. She curled her bushy tail around her paws and stared at the leader.

Galesong and Pebblepaw both let out a sigh, Galesong out of her still-present misery and Pebblepaw out of relief that the argument was over.
"I think we should go right now," said Pebblepaw, not wanting to linger as it could lead to further fighting. Going on a hunt would probably offer a chance for all of them to think things through and settle down, and that seemed to be needed right away.
Galesong nodded slightly, her eyes still downcast. "We might as well," she said.
*********
In the nursery, Hummingkit lay upside down. Her deep-brown eyes gazed out of the nursery toward where her brother and several other cats she didn't really know where. She thought she recognized her brother's mentor, but she couldn't be sure her memory was correct.
She twitched slightly in a weak attempt to roll over onto her feet. Finally rolling onto her side, she stopped and breathed heavily, lying on the ground. If only her brother wasn't leaving, he could come and be with her. But he had told her he was going out for a while, as he did almost every day. She wished he'd be here more.
She closed her eyes again. Well, she'd wait until he returned.

Stormshadows sighed. I guess the dispute is over. I'll just go back to sleep... The old tom slowly curled up, breathing deeply and slowly. He closed his eyes, but wouldn't sleep. Well mouse droppings! I'm awake for good now. He got up and breathed out in exasperation. But there's nothing to do. Figures. That's what happens when you get old. You do less and less stuff, and boredom gets larger and larger. The only thing I have to look forward to is meeting the kit, eating, drinking, and sleeping.
The tom sat down, having nothing better to do.

Nightstar's eyes flicked around at the camp. Yes, the argument had surely ceased by now. She turned to look at Cloverpaw, getting the feeling the apprentice was staring at her. "Yes, what is it, Cloverpaw?" She asked, her voice sounding a bit rushed because she wanted the hunting patrol to leave and return soon. She wondered if Stormshadows was alright, he seemed to hurt his leg quite a bit. She flicked her tail, dismissing the thought. If his leg hurt a lot he would've gone to Swiftshadow for help. Then again, the elder was pretty stubborn. She refocused her attention back to Cloverpaw, curious about what the apprentice wanted to speak with her about.

Why did she have to be so small and weak? Why her? Why couldn't she be big and able to do things like her sister? Young Hollykit didn't understand many of the things that have happened throughout her short life. The only thing she looked forward to was her time with Cloverpaw. Lately, the kit hadn't felt like eating, which has caused her sister worry. Hollykit didn't mean to worry her sister, she just didn't feel like eating. And what was even worse, is she had just now learned to walk, but could only do so for a few seconds before falling. Her paws just wouldn't hold her up. Thankfully, her sister was able to pick her up and move her if Hollykit wanted to. Hollykit was definately lucky to have such a wonderful big sister. Even if Hollykit wasn't able to speak clearly, Cloverpaw always seemed to know just what she wanted. She wanted to make her sister happy, and open her eyes, and see Cloverpaw, but that just wasn't happening yet. She kneeded the ground with her tiny paws, hoping her sister, or anyone would visit soon.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Cloverpaw was always nervous when she talked to cats that were older. She swallowed before looking at the ground. This was too hard, maybe she should come back later. No! This was something that needed to happen now. "I was just wondering if you could help me with Hollykit." she said, now looking back at Nightstar. It was hard for her to admit she needed help with her little sister, but this was serious. "She won't eat, and I don't know why. You have to help me! I can't lose her!" the apprentice said, tears falling as she finished her sentence.
Nightstar looked down at the apprentice. Her black eyes were filled with no emotion as she took some time to think. "Have you been slipping medicine in her food?" She asked. "Sometimes kits can smell it and won't want to eat it. How well is Hollykit of a talker? You should ask her why she doesn't want to eat. Perhaps you could find some sort of a mother figure for Hollykit? Dewdrop might be able to help. I can't think of anything else. If that doesn't work you should ask Swiftshadow. He seems to be in a bit of a bad mood today, but I'm sure he'll help." The she-cat stared blankly at Cloverpaw, her gaze not shifting. Having unhealthy kits in the clan isn't good. She thought. What is StarClan trying to do?
(Wow. besides a slight age difference, Hollykit and Hummingkit are pretty much the same.)
((Really? That's kinda weird, yet neat. Hollykit will have someone to look up to. ^^))
"I don't know how I would be able to slip any medicine in her food, when I don't know any medicine. I'm definately clueless when it comes to herbs and whatnot." Cloverpaw said, listening carefully to Nightstar's words and then finally speaking. "Hollykit doesn't talk. She is too quiet, and only speaks one word at a time. I don't even think she knows many words." she muttered this part, wishing the kit would talk more. That would help the problem tremendously. "Thanks for at least trying to help. I don't know what to do anymore. I'm sorry to bring this up, I just couldn't do it on my own. And I can't always watch her, since I have training to do." Cloverpaw went on. "I think I am going to bring her to Stormshadows for a visit, maybe they can be good friends, and he can look after her when I am gone." the apprentice said, speaking her thoughts.
Nightstar shrugged. "I don't know if there are herbs that could help Hollykit, though." She replied. "Focus on teaching her how to talk more for now. You could ask Stormshadows to do a little more than keep her company. I don't think there's anything else you can do. If Hollykit doesn't grow or eat when she's 6 moons, I'll have to postpone her apprenticeship." She paused for a moment, thinking in the silence. "I'd like to know what's going on with Hummingkit too. Tell me anything you know about her. Actually, I'll go there myself." She turned around and padded towards the nursery, flicking her tail for Cloverpaw to follow. She entered the nursery, her eyes flicking around until the rested on Hollykit.
Cloverpaw wished there was herbs that could help her little sister. She would give anything, if it meant the kit would eat or even just be normal. "I'm trying to teach her as much as I can. I just don't remember what I was doing at that age, it has been a while, so that makes the job harder." the apprentice said, looking back to Nightstar. At the mentioning of her sister might having to delay her apprentice ceremony, sadness came across her. It wasn't Hollykit's fault that she was so tiny. Cloverpaw sighed and then followed after the leader. As soon as she entered, she went straight to Hollykit, and wrapped her tail around the kits body. "Sorry it took so long." she said, giving her sister a few licks on her head. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hollykit loved listening to the sounds around her. Not being able to see just yet, this was her only way of knowing what was going on. Her ears pricked up when she heard someone coming into the nursery, and began to purr when she heard her sister's voice. "Cloverpaw!" she exclaimed. That was one word she had mastered. She didn't have any problem at all with her sister's name. Hollykit was now purring loudly, happy she was with her big sister.
Nightstar looked down at Hollykit, quickly inspecting the kit. "How old is she?" She asked, her eyes not moving from the kit. It looked as if Hollykit has not opened her eyes yet, which was certainly a bit of a problem. "You've been trying to feed her fresh-kill, right? Since she hasn't opened her eyes yet, I think she's too young to start eating fresh-kill. I'm sure Dewdrop has milk to spare since she only has one kit. That's all I can say for now." The she-cat padded out of the nursery, sighing. That hunting patrol better be gone! She thought angrily, not wanting to see the group of cats still in the camp.
Hollykit was so happy that her big sister was with her. She didn't know who the other cat was, since she wasn't too great at identifying cats, but figured Cloverpaw would explain it all in a little bit. Her tail was twitching with excitement, thinking of things she could play with her sister. She yawned and curled up beside her sister, waiting for the conversation to be over. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Cloverpaw looked down at her sister and smiled. The kit was so special to her. "She will be turning two moons in about a week or so." the apprentice said. That was a tough question to answer, she had almost forgotten that it hadn't been even two moons since her mother's death. "I've been trying to feed her whatever I can find." she murmered, hating that she was being questioned so much, but she would never admit that. "That sounds like an idea that might actually work. I can't believe I didn't think of that. I guess I just keep forgetting how young she really is. Thank you." she said, purring slightly.
She watched Nightstar exit the nursery and then looked back to her little sister. "How about we play our favorite game?" Cloverpaw asked Hollykit. Lately she had been trying to get the kit to move around, and try to pounce, by making games out of it. She hoped this would help Hollykit not be so frail. When the kit nodded with enthusiasm, Cloverpaw began the game.
Tiny dark-brown eyes watched the pair of cats from the other side of the nursery... well, sort of. Hummingkit was lying upside down, her front paws folded up on her stomach and her back paws sticking straight back. She missed Pebblepaw already, and wished he'd hurry back.
In the back of the kit's mind, it occurred to her that she didn't even know the names of these cats, despite the fact that she had seen them so much before as she lay here in the nursery... after all, she couldn't remember any time when she had ever left it!
Still, watching Cloverpaw with Hollykit cheered her up a bit. It would be so lonely to not have a sibling...
