foolish as a young kit... How about a young apprentice? His words cut her deeply. She quoted the words her father, Swiftcry, had once told her. Her father, who she herself had killed... not directly, but even so. Was she still as foolish now as she was then?
Stop it, Galesong! she hissed at herself mentally. You know what happened the last time you thought like this! It's a good thing Windsigh was there to help you... but she too is gone now, and all you have left is a distant reminder when you look in Pebblepaw's eyes. Foolish... haven't you learned anything from all this?
She half-closed her eyes, her mask shattered for now. Pebblepaw stared harshly at the back of Swiftshadow. Normally he could understand other cat's angers and sorrows, but when a cat hurt Galesong, he wouldn't stand for it. After all, she had known his mother and been so kind to him and Hummingkit. Now he would return the favor.

Nightstar emerged from her den at the sound of an argument. Padding over to the cats a growl erupted from her throat. "That's enough!" She yowled. "Sunningrocks may not be ours but a hunting patrol is not a border raid. RiverClan has no reason to start trouble with ThunderClan or ShadowClan." She glared at Pebbleheart, then turning to Swiftshadow. "And you, Swiftshadow, you should know better than to say such a thing! We are as strong as any other clan if not stronger. You shouldn't put such deceiving things into our warriors' minds and in the presence of an apprentice, too!" Her piercing black eyes showed a rage that she had used many times before. "I asked Wildstreak to go hunting with others and it turned into a border raid fantasy! Never have I seen that from warriors. Swiftshadow, this no longer concerns you. I ask that you return to whatever you were doing beforehand. As for the rest of you, you shouldn't be standing around doing nothing." She sat there, waiting for the cats to leave for hunting. "And if I hear any complaints from ThunderClan about you, well let's just hope that won't happen."

"No words? No witty come back? As I expected you all are foolish, no matter how many times you try to act smart and try for things, they will always be the same, no matter how many times you want someone there with you, they are gone and you must accept that!" Swiftshadow snarled as he shook his head, his shoulders squared as he still sat there, hunched over in his own pit of sorrow.
Pebbleheart looked at Galesong, "How dare you! You know that she is not a foolish kit, how dare you mention that she, Galesong a great warrior, is a foolish kit. Sometimes I wonder if you were suppose to be a medicine cat, you have the feelings of a rock," yowled Pebbleheart in anger as he unsheathed and sheathed his claws.

Galesong sighed unhappily. "I don't think we have to worry about ThunderClan anymore," she said softly. "At this rate, they won't have to do a thing. We'll just destroy ourselves."
By now, Pebblepaw was glaring at Swiftshadow with pure hatred, something he'd never felt before. "And here I was, thinking that medicine cats were supposed to heal, not to wound," he spat. "I guess I was wrong."

"Believe what you want, sometimes what you believe in is just a lie," Swiftshadow said as he turned around and looked at the young apprentice, something shone in his eyes. It was sorrow, fear, pity, he was thinking but of only Ivypool, and how he had not been good enough to heal her or to save her. He reflected these emotions towards the young apprentice, he would not know how Swiftshadow felt, he would not know what true pain was, no not a scratch or a battle wound, but a wound to the heart, that one most dear would be slain by your own claws or anothers right in front of you, that pain was something no herb could help cure.

Pebblepaw saw that looked and backed down slightly, but only slightly. Having pain didn't mean you had to strive to hurt others. After all, his own mother had smiled at him as she lay dying, telling him not to chance, not to mourn her. To miss her, yes, but not to hurt his sister or anyone else by dwelling on her death.
"I believe in myself," he said, not harshly now but strongly. "Does that mean I am I lie? Well, I'm not. Sometimes you just have to know what to believe in, and how to believe in it."

Wildstreak's green eyes glared into Pebbleheart. This was just too much. "ThunderClan isn't worth my effort anyway." he murmered after hearing Nightstar. He was actually greatful that the leader had come out to stop the little 'fiasco'. He didn't want to battle unless it was necessary. Besides, in his mind, more than four cats would be needed for a raid like that.
Looking from the apprentice to Galesong the tom finally gave in. "I guess Pebbleheart can come with us." he said after a long thought. What choice did he have? He couldn't say no, even though he wanted to desperately. Oh well, he had already said something. Whether he would regret it or not, it had already been said. "Shall we go ahead and go then? I think Nightstar has already had enough arguing today." he said, almost whispering the last part of his statement.

Nightstar frowned at Wildstreak's obvious dislike to bringing along Pebbleheart. "I don't think there's anything wrong with Pebbleheart, all though I don't appreciate his tone with Swiftshadow just now. I have no need to deal with...this for you should all know, it's my decision if we should raid or not." She mewed clearly, so everyone in the vicinity could here. "But that's besides the point. What I want is a hunting patrol. Go now, the rest of the clan is waking up and we need food!" Her stare grew intenser as her temper flared, no longer wishing to deal with the small group of warriors and the one apprentice. She turned to look at Pebblepaw. "Swiftshadow is talking nonsense right now. All you need to believe in is yourself, the clan, and StarClan." Nightstar hoped that would clear things up for the apprentice, even though her tone was hard as ever.

The tom awoke to hear the noise of other cats arguing. He groaned and unsheathed his claws, letting them sink into the dirt. Stormshadows unsheathed them and stretched and yawned. He shook some leaves that stuck to him during the night, then turned his attention to the racket that awoke him. Couldn't they talk a little quieter?! Some cats are trying to sleep here! Like me, maybe?! Rude little kits, always thinking it's okay to wake cats when it seems like it isn't even sunup yet. he thought angrily, and continuously sheathed and unsheathed his claws to fuel out some of his anger until he finally stopped, but instead hissed, "Could you please argue a little later in the day?! Some cats are trying to sleep, unlike you." He got tense. "And where is that apprentice that gives me food and water, make them hurry up." They never respect their elders, no. Just 'cause we're old, doesn't mean we'll rip your fur off and tear your whiskers out!

Wildstreak just simply nodded. He knew he had better not say anymore, or else he might get himself in trouble. Well maybe he would say one thing. "Yes, Nightstar, we do not want to upset you or any other cat." he replied. That would work, or at least he hoped it would. Causing trouble within the clan wasn't worth any effort, it would only cause pain and too much work. He gave Nightstar another nod and padded towards the camp's exit, and waited for the rest of the group.

Cloverpaw yawned as she padded out of the apprentices den. It had been a rough moon for her. With her siblings, and mother's death, and now having the responsibility of looking after her frail little sister, it got to be tiring. Not only that, but she was also training, and doing everything she could do to help everyone else. She was really worried about Hollykit, and hoped her little sister would eat. Hollykit had not been eating lately, and that sent fear through the apprenice. Cloverpaw didn't want to lose another sibling, if she could help make it not happen. She spotted Nightstar and padded to the leader, hoping she could have a word with her. She sat down, a few tail lengths away and waited for a chance to speak. Her attention turned to Stormshadows and she felt sympathy for the elder. "If you want, I will bring you some food and water. I need to try and get Hollykit to eat." she meowed, looking at him. "Of course I would, and hurry up if you could," he snapped, and then sat down, tail wrapping around his paws. At least someone pays attention. All the warriors, thinking they're so tough, and that I won't hurt them if I'm in a bad mood. They are so wrong. I'll claw their eyes out and eat their tails for breakfast! Do not underestimate Stormshadows! Why I'd-- He had gotten so worked up he had been kneading the dirt, and his leg cracked. "Mouse droppings! Ouch! My leg is hurting to high StarClan!" he yowled, getting even more frusterated.

Cloverpaw's conversation with Nightstar would have to wait. It was more important to take care of an elder, no matter how rude or unkind they were, elders were important. "Yes, sir." she meowed. She felt even more sympathy as she watched Stormshadows even more. The apprentice sighed and got up from her position. She padded to get some fresh-kill and returned with a fish. "This is all for now, but I will try and catch you some more later." she said with a slight smile. She layed down the fish and then glanced back to the nursery. "Stormshadow, may I ask a favor of you?" she said, becoming a little nervous. "I just wanted to know if you had any advice on how I can help my sister eat. I'm trying all I can to get her to, but she refuses it." she mewed, tears forming in her eyes as she thought of losing another family member. "Hollykit is all I have left, and I thought with your experience and knowledge you might know how to help." Her words were true, yes, and this was hard for Cloverpaw to say. She hated admitting that she needed help with her little sister.

Stormshadows thanked the apprentice, and thought about her question. It wasn't normal for him to be nice, but he understood losing family members. "Well. Do you know why she's not eating? Maybe she doesn't like the kind of food you're giving her. Uh, maybe Swiftshadows or Nightstar will know. That's all I can think of, other than maybe she's depressed. I didn't want to eat when my family died. But I did, because that was what my parents would have wanted me to do." he looked up into the sky, and then shook his head and cleared his throat. Stormshadows took a bite out of the fish and spit out the skin. The tom was funny--He would never eat the skin of anything. He lapped the blood of the fish up, and licked his whiskers. "That's all I can think of right now. Sorry."

Cloverpaw shook her head. That was the problem, she couldn't figure out why Hollykit wouldn't eat. It pained her to look at the kit. Hollykit was so frail, that Cloverpaw honestly couldn't say how the kit was still alive. "I wish I knew. That would help the problem out tremendously. I hate to admit it, but I don't know how to take care of her. I really wish my mother was here." the apprentice said, her emerald eyes looking at the ground. "I don't think she realizes or understands what is going on, so I don't think she is depressed." she murmered. "And thank you. At least you gave me something to start with." Her eyes glanced to the nursery once again. "Maybe she just needs someone to be with her." she said softly. The apprentice sighed and then nodded to Stormshadows. "I want her to meet you when she opens her eyes. I don't think she has just yet, but I hope she will soon. You are too kind to me, and I think that Hollykit needs kindness also." her tail twitched as she spoke. Cloverpaw's words seemed to just flow out of her mouth without really knowing what she was saying at times.

ooc; I'm changing Stormshadows' font color. ;
bic;
The tom felt like laughing. Nice?! She thinks I'm nice? What have I gotten myself into? he thought, looking at his paws. "Hm. That's nice of you to say that. I could meet her," he mewed, then added in his head, but I don't have to like it. My time is coming soon, anyways. I'd better try to be a little more...nice? "Yes, I'll meet her." Stormshadows confirmed. "I'm just wasting your time. You can go take care of Hollykit or whatever your sister's name is."
What's gotten into everyone?! They're arguing like crazy, and Nightstar won't be able to stop them. Our Clan is being divided in two. Galesong is right. We don't need to worry about ThunderClan, we're destroying ourselves! he thought, and quickly finished his fish. The cat buried the skin, bones, and other unappetizing parts, then kept watching the arguement. Though I have to admit, it's pretty good entertainment. I think I'll talk to Nightstar later.
