Nightstar padded out of her den, yawning. The warm sunshine just barely peaked over the horizon. Some warriors should have just left for a dawn patrol... She thought, gazing at the camp still quiet for other cats were usually sound asleep at this hour. I haven't been on a patrol in moons. She quietly slunk over to the fresh-kill pile, looking down on the prey hungrily. The pile was pitiful, as usual in the mornings. The she-cat always liked being the one of the first cats to pick from the pile. She grabbed a fish leftover from the previous night and slowly chewed on it. The tasty juices from the fish danced on her tongue as her hunger was satisfied. She buried the bones and looked over the camp one last time. Yes, everything is good. She thought before sitting in a patch of sunlight, waiting for the clan to spring into life for the day. Nightstar began grooming herself, licking her paw and drawing it over her face. When finished she twitched her whiskers and felt complete. "I'll assign a hunting patrol when more warriors wake up." She mumbled to herself. Looking up at the sky, still lighting up, she sighed. "StarClan hasn't said a thing recently...Her black eyes gazed into nothingness as she easily fell into a deep thought.

The beautiful morning sun shined in the medicine cats den, making the many shells and rocks glisten with an aray of bright colours. A tom sat near the entrance, his one good amber eye watching the sun rise and shine brilliantly on the water, but his other eye, lame from a past skirmish with a ShadowClan warrior, was closed. The thought of his eye made Swiftshadow clench his teeth and made his fur bristle, 'Ivypool...' he thought grimly as he stood to his white paws, a small breeze running through his soft fur, but that wouldn't help with the emotions that Swiftshadow had. 'She comes to me in my dreams, but I feel so far away...so alone without her,' Swiftshadow thought as he walked outside of his den, paying heed to his supplies. The sun warmed his pelt and lifted his spirits a bit, what he really needed was another cat to talk to, one that would hopefully take his mind off of Ivypool for a bit. Eyeing Nightstar, Swiftshadow made his way towards her, forcing a smile on his usually frowning face. "Hello Nightstar," Swiftshadow murmered quietly as he sat beside her, his white tail curling over his paws. The gentle splashing of the water as it hit the rivers shore calmed Swiftshadow even more, and as he thought of going out to gather supplies he nodded with understanding. 'She wouldn't want me to dwell on her death like this, even if it causes me a great deal of pain I must forget about her for my clanmates sake,' he thought as he turned to look at Nightstar, his lame eye showing. "You seem troubled...about StarClan maybe?" He asked with a knowing smile.

"Hm?" Nightstar jumped a bit at the sound of a voice. "Oh, Swiftshadow. Good morning." She greeted, blinking a bit. "Yes, StarClan has been silent for a while now. I'm not worried about it though. I have no time to be worried when I have a clan to run." She gave a reassuring smile with her words. Noticing the medicine cat's lame eye...it gave her a small chilling feeling deep inside her heart. She forced her eyes to not show the feeling and focus on Swiftshadow's good eye. "You should have something to eat. Those apprentices will wake up soon. They eat until the pile is small then finish of the rest in the morning." Her pink nose twitched with a small delight at her own joke. Regaining the serious look in her eyes she decided to change the subject again. "Have you heard anything from StarClan?" She asked, just to make sure. Swiftshadow was certainly a strange cat. He always seemed as if he had bad news grasping his mind. If he said everything was fine with StarClan, then there could be only one explanation. His hidden depression....Ivypool...Nightstar blinked a few times to get rid of the thoughts.

Sunlight...a beautiful time of the day. Nothing could compare to the beauty of the sun when it was in the sky...not even the moon. This was the opinion of a orange tom. It didn't matter what everyone else thought of this opinion, for it was his own, and he was not ashamed of it, after all it is his opinion.
As the figure emerged from the warriors den, the sunlight was one thing that made him smile. Not only did it reflect his pelt beautifully, but it was also a sign of hope for this tom. A sign that burned bright, like his hopes of finding his sister. That was a light inside of him that was always shining and burning bright.
Wildstreak, as he was called, was about to pad over to the leader to talk with her, but when he saw the medicine cat going over to Nightstar, the tom stopped in his tracks. Instead he looked out of the camp, and into the forest. How could he find his sister, when he didn't even know where to begin?

Swiftshadow watched her, he could almost see the chilling feeling run down her spine as she stared at his lame eye. "I have yet to hear from them, it must mean that all is well, or that they are thinking of how to tell us something. When I go to the Moonstone I assure you that I will tell you everything of great importance," he meowed with a stern voice as he looked at the fresh-kill pile. 'I wonder,' he thought to himself as he glanced at her eyes, 'She see's my pain, the pain of being alone, of seeing your very own mentor slain before your very eyes. I would never put that pain upon any cat...' Swiftshadow shook his head to rid his thoughts. "The apprentices...I've wondered about that, about taking on my own, I'm not getting any younger and I can't do everything by myself." A brisk breeze fell upon the isle, sending a chill down his spine. StarClan are very quiet, recently they have yet to act like this but now...Ivypool, can you not tell me anything in my dreams? Thought the tom as he looked down at his paws, his amber eye twinkling with the thought of seeing his mentor in his dreams, to see her fur shine with the stars of StarClan, to hear her voice yet again, oh the thought. "Nightstar, you need not feel sorry for me, for this lame eye, for my own feelings, the past is the past and no matter how many times I see that tom I will not start a conflict, those are beyond me," he rasped, struggling to say what his mentor had told him right before she had died.

"It's fine." Nightstar replied, her eyes staring blankly at Swiftshadow. "I'll find you an apprentice. I was thinking....maybe Hummingkit because of her condition. I don't think she can train to be a warrior." Her eyes quickly glanced over at the nursery. "StarClan will speak with us when they want, nothing to be worried about." The she-cat noticed Wildstreak emerge from the warriors den. "Wildstreak!" She called out to him. "I want you to go hunting. Take Galesong and Pebblepaw with you." She nodded to dismiss him. "I hope the dawn patrol returns soon..." Nightstar turned and dipped her head in respect for the medicine cat, then retreated to her den. She sat in her bed of moss, staring ahead. Swiftshadow acts like he got over Ivypool's death. She thought darkly. But it's obvious he feels nothing but pain and sorrow about the whole situation. Maybe I should confront him about it later. She laid down and rested her head on her paws. Sighing, she couldn't help but remember her own mentor's death.

Swiftshadow nodded as she left, but he couldn't help thinking that StarClan was being silent for a reason, Next visit to the Moonstone, I will ask Ivypool He thought as he too left for the camp entrance. "I need chervil...horsetail and borage leaves," Swiftshadow murmered to himself as he nodded while passing the young warrior by. Once at the camp entrance he stopped, wondering if Hummingkit would be the right apprentice, injury or not. Ivypool, I need your wisdom for this one task, I am unsure of who might be my apprentice and rarely have I been unsure, just this once I shall ask for your help, please...is she the right one? He pleaded as he looked up at the sky, his one lame eye shut due to the sun's bright light.

The morning light slid into the warriors den and shined brightly on the many shells and rocks that lie in the den. A flash of light shined brightly on a toms eyes and he woke with a snarl, not meaning to of course. Sighing as he shook his head to rid the dreams he had from him, he stood up and stalked out of the warriors den, a smile on his maw as he looked over to see Swiftshadow standing at the camp entrance, just looking up at the sky like he was in a daze. Poor Swiftshadow... Pebbleheart thought grimly as he remembered the all the talk about how Swiftshadow's mentor was murdered by a ShadowClan warrior. A cold ripple was sent up his spine and he shook himself, he wouldn't want to have his mentor slain before his very eyes like that, but of course his mentor had already passed on to StarClan. Yawning, Pebbleheart made his way to the fresh-kill pile, stretching a bit when he got there, he picked out a good looking fish before settling down to eat before he went on patrol. Tearing into the soft skin of the fish, Pebbleheart savored it's mouth watering taste, "How can all the other clan cats not like fishing, the prey is so sweet, so appitizing!" Pebbleheart murmered aloud as he licked the rest of the fish that still hung on his maw from himself. Standing to his fullest, Pebbleheart yawned once more, stretched, showing off his sleek muscles and nice glossy dark tabby gray coat, and sat down, curling his tail over his paws. "I wonder who would be my apprentice if I should get one soon..." He wondered aloud, unmeaningfully, as he sat there with a hard expression on his face. Yellow eyes gleaming in the sun like they were chips of the greatest sunstone you would ever see in a lifetime.

Galesong stretched her legs and walked slowly out of the warrior's den, nodding a greeting to the cats outside. She enjoyed the feeling of the sun on her fur, it was easy to just stand and forget about the world for a moment, simply enjoying the warmth and the comfort. Still, it was far too short a time before she tired of even this nd had to move on to something else, in this case, breakfast.
The grey she-cat grabbed a small fish, she never had much of an appetite in the morning. Spotting Pebbleheart, she walked over to sit by him.
"Good morning, Pebbleheart," she said, sitting near him as she began eating.
*********************
Pebblepaw had been in the nursery for a long while now, long before his mentor woke. Every morning he came here, and every other chance he got as well., to check on his sister. Not that she was every worse, or in any danger, but still. His mother had done it before him, and he would do it now.
The two were walking around the nursery together, letting Hummingkit stretch her legs. With Pebblepaw's careful guidance, she was slowly getting stronger. Slowly, but it was an improvement over not at all.

Pebbleheart smiled as Galesong settled next to him, for he always enjoyed the company of his clanmates. "Well good morning to you too Galesong," he meowed as he began to lick a forepaw, his pink tongue slithering over his paw like a snake over the water. Noticing that this would be the perfect time to ask her a question, Pebbleheart turned towards Galesong, a serious look on his face. "Galesong...do you wonder if Swiftshadow will ever get over the loss of his mentor? I mean, I know I've never met her, and it probably must have been horrible to see your mentor die right in front of you, but surely he must get over it sometime, right?" He asked trying to keep his voice low. "I can hear you over here you know, Pebbleheart," Swiftshadow hissed as he turned his head, showing them his lame eye. A soft breeze blew through the camp, making Swiftshadow's pelt blow in the breeze, making him look very powerful. "Um...sorry Swiftshadow, I was only wondering," Pebbleheart groaned as he lowered his head in shame. "Keep your thoughts to yourself, and don't ever talk about my mentor. Ever again," Swiftshadow meowed to Pebbleheart as he walked over towards his den, preparing the caves he had made for his supplies for the new ones he would be getting.[/color]

A shadow crossed Galesong's face as Pebbleheart mentioned the death of Swiftshadow's mentor. Too much to think about... her own mentor had survived, when she had led him off a drop, but her father had not. Her father, Swiftcry. Whenever she spoke to Swiftshadow she had to force herself harder than ever to smile, always thinking about another cat with a similar name.
Galesong quickly covered up her shock with a carefree expression, shadowed by the correct about of worry to show her concern of what was said. "We should respect Swiftshadow's wishes," was all the she-cat said, all too aware of the fact that her voice shook slightly.
"You slept well?" she asked, changing the subject with a smile.
(It's a coincidence, Galesong's father was Swiftcry and her apprentice is Pebblepaw, almost the same as Swiftshadow and Pebbleheart!)

//Yes it is, hahaha.// Pebbleheart looked shocked at Galesong's words, but only nodded in agreement as he watched Swiftshadow leave for his den. "Yes, and did you?" Pebbleheart asked as he took note of Galesong's shaking voice. The two of them are similar in many ways...no further shall I speak of...her Pebbleheart thought as he looked around, trying to figure out which cats he should go hunting with.
Swiftshadow growled while he entered his den, he looked at the neat piles of herbs and shook his head fiercely, eyes tightly shut and claws digging into the soil in anger. "How dare he mention her...while I was right there, right in hearing distance!" He snarled as he sat down, shoulders hunched and eyes shut tightly, but then he wondered. Will I ever get over the loss? I do have clanmates to serve, but will I get over the loss? He argued with himself for several minutes before staring at his den walls, his amber eyes were shallow pools of sorrow and grief. "Ivypool, no matter how much it pains me...I shall, to serve my clan as best I can...I shall," he murmered as he sat there, shoulders hunched, claws now sheathed, thinking of his beloved mentor and how he was to forget about her for the good of his clan.

Galesong smiled again, grateful that he didn't pursue the subject. "I slept quite soundly last night, as I have for many nights now. It seems only the sun can wake me, I sleep through everything else!" The she-cat followed Pebbleheart's gaze around camp, her eyes halting as she caught sight of her apprentice, Pebblepaw.
The many-colored cat crept softly out of the nursery, flicking his tail in goodbye to Hummingkit, who sat down at the edge of the nursery to watch all the motion.
Pebblepaw saw Galesong looking as him and ran over, energetically leaping through the air. He paused as he reached them. "Good morning Galesong, good morning Pebbleheart," he panted, happy as he always was in the mornings, as well as any other time of day.

Pebbleheart smiled and chuckled, the light that reflected from the rocks and shells in the warriors den seemed to be the only thing that woke him too!
Watching as Pebblepaw came over, he couldn't help but think of his days as an apprentice, oh how he remembered fishing in the river...his first gathering, it was all amazing! "Hello Pebblepaw, sleep well?" He asked as he stood up and began to stretch, he didn't want to be too tired when he went, and he obviously didn't want to strain himself.

Dewdrop opened her mouth in a huge yawn. Puddlekit was still fast asleep, giving her a chance to take time on her breakfast. Even though she had plenty of time, she took a small bank vole and headed straight back to the nursery. She didn't want to leave Puddlekit alone for long, though nothing of interest happened when she was there. The young queen settled herself at the entrance of the nursery and began gently picking at the vole. She paused for a moment between bites to glance about the clearing at the cats that were already up and about. There was a rustling sound from her nest, but when she checked in on her kit, she found Puddlekit rolling about in her sleep. She was determined to do well with her first kit, and sometimes she didn't care for herself well enough.
