"If it is contagious, the reason it wouldn't have spread would be because cats are wise enough not to be quite so close," meowed Dreamwolf in response, an edge to his voice. "And there could be any number of things impairing Amberstar's judgment. Concussion, delusion, memory loss... among other things." He spoke as if Amberstar wasn't even there, eyes rolling upwards as if he was reciting a list. He ignored Jetstreak's poor word choice.
Hearing Spiritheart, the gray cat stepped to the side and turned, moving away from the entrance. "Too impatient to wait with the rest of the clan?" murmured the medicine cat softly to Jetstreak. "Amberstar is the whole clan's leader, not just yours. I see no reason why your presence is required for this discussion." The edge returned to his otherwise monotone voice, his golden eyes glinting.

"Oh?" replied Jetstreak, sensing a challenge. "Well, why don't you just wait and see. This might concern me. This might concern me a lot."

"I'd hope not," replied the ticked tabby (XD I love the two meanings to that *just realized* =P), flicking his eyes past the black cat to Amberstar. "I'm waiting. You've got a captive audience," he said softly, his eyes darting between the three other cats.

(( Jetstreak doesn't know it's about patrols... xDD Psychic cat!)) Spiritheart's tail tip flicked idly from side to side, perhaps with the slightest touch of annoyance. His eyes burned with curiosity as Dreamwolf stepped aside, giving the deputy a better view inside the now slightly crowded den. Deciding to bite back the temptation to yowl his discoveries to the open sky, the white tom glanced at the seemingly angry Jetstreak with a cool expression. "Well yes, it is rather important. But if this matter includes you, it can wait. He shot a peculiar look at Amberstar before turning away to walk away from the den and take up a small mouse in his teeth, then proceed to devour the rodent outside the warrior's den.

((I just figured something out, Amberstar is in a clan with toms! XD The deputy, the medicine cat, her mate....wow..))
Amberstar half wished Jetstreak would have stayed by her side, so that maybe that would explain everything, and she wouldn't have to tell Dreamwolf. When he left she sighed. Might as well tell the medicine cat now, right? When she heard the voice of her deputy a wave of worry went through her mind. What exactly did he want? But when Jetstreak handled it, even though it wasn't the way she would have wished, she felt relieved. She would personally talk to the cat later, after Jetstreak talked to him. Amberstar gave Jetstreak a quick glare, after his outburst with the deputy.
"Dreamwolf, I can't keep this from you any longer." the leader began, completely ignoring the medicine cat's previous comment about her being delusional. "First of all, I am not contagious, in fact I am not even sick. Well nauseous, yes, but that is to be expected with everything." Her eyes turned toward Jetstreak, a bit of fear in them as she spoke her next words. "I'm not sick, like I said, but I am to have kits in the near future." she breathed a deep sigh, it felt good to get that off her chest. "And it does concern Jetstreak, because he is the kits father."

(Well, there's Falconshade too, she's female... ^^; )
"Another reason why he should not be so close," said Dreamwolf without much delay, a slight growl in his voice. "Unless you think the clan won't care that their leader has broken the warrior code." Having been born a kittypet, he had never respected the warrior code as much as most clan-born cats, but he knew very well what it said - and how the clan might react. "I'm sure you know that you risk revolt, exile, death... how, may I ask, do you plan to break the news to your loyal clan?"
He said nothing for a moment, then: "How soon are the kits due?" he asked, closing his eyes and sighing.

Jetstreak closed his eyes, letting out a silent sigh. "Do these punishments apply to me, too? This predicament was completely my fault. It was none of Amberstar's doing. She's innocent. You can kill me, too, if you'll spare her." Now that Amberstar's life was in jeopardy, he felt no regret in offering his own. Without her, life had no meaning. It hadn't really before he met her at all.

Dreamwolf stared at Jetstreak for a moment before bursting out laughing. It was quite an odd thing, for the distant cat rarely laughed... and the situation, of course, was not the lightest of times. After a moment, he contained his laughter enough to speak again.
"Please, I'm not the grim reaper or anything," he said, scoffing. "Personally, I don't really care if a cat having kits is a queen, leader, or anything else. It's Starclan's rules you've broken, so if you're going to beg for forgiveness you might as well ask them."
He closed his golden eyes. "Myself, I haven't heard anything from Starclan. Whether that's good or bad, I don't know. But Starclan's opinions are not easily changed. Living cats, however, might be convinced not to judge you too harshly."
He grinned. "Think of it this way, it's a great test of how loyal the clan is to you. And how loyal they are to Starclan. Too bad both can't win."

((True, but I kinda meant in this little conversation, if ya get what I mean..I have Willow too, and well she's a female.))
Amberstar knew Dreamwolf wouldn't be quite as critical as the clan. Might as well open up to this tom first, right? Next was Spiritheart, which Jetstreak 'volunteered' to tell. Then she would speak to the clan. Wouldn't that be fun? "Well I will say that I am having kits, but I will not speak of who the father is, so that I won't put Jetstreak in jeopardy." she murmered, half trying to decide what she was going to say and the other half saying what she was going to say.
"This all kinda snuck up on us. Before we knew it we had fallen in love. Something I thought would never happen to me. But despite all that I know that I might possibly go through, I still think it is worth it. I met my brother, who I never knew existed, and I became closer to Jetstreak, something which was thought to be impossible." the leader quickly added.
"My guess is the kits are due in a moon or less. I'm not good at math, but that seems like a decent guess." she said with a slight shrug.
The she-cat llistened as Dreamwolf spoke, nodding slightly. "Yes, StarClan is the one we need to ask forgiveness from." she mumbled, half scared as to what might happen.
"Well you are right about that. Loyalty will definately be tested..." her eyes were glancing at Jetstreak. Why did he have to open his mouth and say something like that? Did he think the medicine cat would kill him? Now she saw why Dreamwolf had laughed. It was quite funny...
"Spiritheart will be first, and Jetstreak when you tell him, let him know he can come and see me if he has anything to say. And try not to get into an arguement with him, please." Of course she had to add the last part, knowing with those two it was highly unlikely.

Despite the solemnlity of the situation, Jetstreak let out a snicker. "I can't promise that, Amberstar. We don't really get alone too well." With a ear-lick for Amberstar and a respectful nod to Dreamwolf, Jetstreak made his exit.
"Spiritheart! What were you asking?" called Jetstreak once outside. "Come on, you stupid furball."

Spiritheart glanced up from the fresh kill pile, and swallowed down his last mouthful, leisurely bringing his tongue over his teeth, then swiping it around his muzzle. The white tom stood up slowly, and walked over to Jetstreak, sitting down in front of the black tomcat with a steady gaze. None of his earlier hesitation was present; even vacant of any signs of hostility. "Ah. Jetstreak. Yes. The deputy chose his words carefully. "I was going to speak to you and address the matter of responsibility within the clan. As Amberstar wishes to stay inside her den most of the time at the moment, I would like to ask you to share some of my duties with me. Seeing as you are a very able cat, and well suited for the job." Spiritheart even surprised himself at how easily he was stating this to Jetstreak. But the next sentence was strangely even less painful to say. "Disagreements between us cannot continue. The clan needs it's warriors right now. I apologize for acting like a petty kit. As a deputy, it was very immature of me. These words were not empty, but sincere. Alas, the albino cat's mind was elsewhere. 'I wonder what Amberstar is going to say to the clan. And I daresay Starclan won't approve of this.' He was jolted back to the present, and curled his bushy tail over his paws, waiting for Jetstreak's answer; or possibly his retorting with insults.

Jetstreak had his mouth half open, ready to fire back an insult as soon as one was given, but at the deputy's words he stopped, opened his mouth, and closed it again, looking very confused. After a moment he composed himself and dipped his head respectfully. "Thank you, Spiritheart. I'd be honored to help you." At his next words Jetstreak grinned, putting on his 'mature' act. "Oh, the pleasure is all mine, Spiritheart. We'll resume our feud when conditions get better, agreed? I'm sure Amberstar does not approve of this foolishness. As for immaturity, it gets the best of us all." he meowed, imitating Spiritheart's manner of speech in a subtly offensive way. Clearly, Jetstreak had to have the last shot.

Spiritheart let a grin creep across his face, completely destroying all sense of high class he had held in the first place. "Yes. As soon as conditions improve, you can go back to being the argumentative ball of flying claws and teeth; as per usual." he replied, his whiskers twitching with amusement. For once, the deputy's eyes were full of laughter and friendliness. "And I can go back to being a stuck up piece of fox dung, correct?" he questioned in a mock innocent meow. The tom's tail uncurled and swept across the ground as he stood up, flashing his fangs at Jetstreak in another grin, pink-ish eyes shining with the spirit of playful banter. (I've just about had it with those two words in English; three essays!) He arched his back in a fake hiss of challenge. "Immature indeed, dear Jetstreak. Now then, perhaps one last fight for old time's sake?" he purred, baring his teeth in mock anger.

"Argumentave ball of flying claws and teeth? Yep. That about sums me up. Wow, I never realized I had much depth!" replied Jetstreak lightly, flashing a grin of his own in return.
"As for your position, I'd say more of a smelly, conceited, disgusting piece of fox ****." the black tom laughed. "You underestimate yourself."
At the challenge he dropped lightly to a crouch, making a big show of unsheathing his claws. "I'll tear you to shreds." he growled in a fake-ish monster voice. Abruptly he pretended to remember something and straightened up, claws sliding back into his paws. "Oh, if I killed you, Amberstar'd rip ME to shreds. Now that's one she-cat to be afraid of. Man. Once those claws are out, you're toast. I hate getting on her bad side." His voice was light, conversational, and yet still carried the tiniest, almost indistinguishable whiff of menace.
