Days had passed since the foxs had attacked the orange colored she-cat. The sting in her paw was still there, but giving in to that would only make things worse. The scent of the creatures had vanished, thankfully. With the frost becoming less chilly, the camp was more alive, of course the she-cat wouldn't dare sleep outside in this weather. The comfort of the leader's den was all she needed. Amberstar's heart still yearned to be able to spend time with Jetstreak, but time apart had been for the best. With a slight yawn the leader padded out of her den, and laughed as she watched Willowkit batting around a ball of moss. The kit seemed so carefree, and just seeing her, lifted the leader's mood. The kit retreated back to the nursery after a few more moments, most likely the kit had gotten cold. Willowkit hadn't forgotten the moss ball. The leader looked at the fresh-kill pile, there would need to be more soon. Maybe she would go herself and get something. Yes, that is what Amberstar would do in a few moments, she needed time to think, to clear her head. But now all she wanted to do was curl her tail around her paws and watch the sun rise into the horizon. And that is exactly what she did.

Jetstreak had been awake well before dawn, haunted with the nightmares of killing his mentor and defying his father. Breathing heavily, pupils dilated to terrified slits, he stalked the camp restlessly, looking for something to ease his worries. There he spotted Amberstar. His relationship with her was effortless, wonderful; she never failed to put a smile on his face or chase away his nightmares. She was his own personal sun. He padded up quietly to her, trying to look casual in case anyone was watching. "Hey." he murmured quietly into her ear, a smile spreading across his face and his eyes returning to their normal dull gold instead of the raging amber they had become.

A jolt of happiness struck through the leader's stomach at the sound of the one voice she had been longing to hear. Amberstar's emerald orbs glanced to the one cat that words could not describe how she felt about this one cat. "Jetstreak." her voice was a mere whisper. "I've missed you." were her next words. Now her thoughts were to why in the world her feelings for this one tom had to be kept hidden. "Lets go on a patrol, just the two of us. We need fresh kill, and no one will object to that." her voice was now somewhat louder. "Besides, I want to get away and watch the sun rise somewhere other than here." she added with a slight murmur.

Jetstreak nodded sagely, casting his eyes around to make sure Spiritheart was not about. That wouldn't be very good. "Okay." he murmured for her ears only. "Tell someone about it, though, so nobody thinks that we're sneaking off or something. That would just be lovely for your reputation."
OoC- Dang writers' block. >.<

Amberstar knew exactly what Jetstreak was thinking, it wasn't hard to know. One cat came into mind....Spiritheart. Him agreeing to her suggestion only made her stomach lurch more. The leader couldn't wait. Her emerald eyes looked around the camp once more, looking for someone...anyone to tell. The only cat that was in the clearing, was Willowkit pushing around a moss ball. The same moss ball that she had been playing with a few moments before. A smile came to the leader's face as she winked at Jetstreak before padding to Willowkit. "I have something important for you to know. I am going on a hunting patrol with Jetstreak, and when a warrior or someone else wakes up, your job is to tell them that we went hunting, and should be back soon." she meowed to the kit.
Willowkit's eyes were wide. Was she getting a mission? This was going to be awesome. "Sure!" she mewed excitedly, completely forgetting about her moss ball game. "I will make sure to tell whoever I see first!" she added.
Satisfied, the leader said a quick thank you to Willowkit before flicking her tail back at Jetstreak signaling for him to follow her. Amberstar trotted out of camp, stopping at the exit, waiting for Jetstreak.

Jetstreak followed quickly. As soon as a thick wall of bush surrounded them and the camp, he spun around to face her with a purr. "Foxes...suspicious deputies...annoying elders...what could possibly interrupt us here?" he mused, a wicked light dancing in his eyes as he stepped closed to Amberstar.
"Gee, I wonder what it'll be next. Dancing badgers? Werewolves?" He took another step forward. By that time his nose was less than an inch from hers, and he could smell her sweet breath. "What do you think?"

Amberstar just couldn't take it, that sent her over the edge. Sitting down, so she wouldn't fall flat on her face, the leader burst out into laughter. "I don't think anything, or anyone will bother us here." she purred. "I think that just us here together is more of a danger than anything else." she murmered. She rubbed her face into his pelt. "Besides, I don't want anything to interrupt this moment." she added.

Jetstreak let out a gentle purr of agreement, pressing his cheek against hers. "Just forget about your responsibilities, at least for a little while." he purred. "Enjoy the moment as it lasts." With the hint of a sigh he sat gracefully down on the grass beside her, letting his tail twine with hers and making sure their pelts brushed together, amber and black. I wonder if the color of our fur reflects our personality. Jetstreak mused silently. Mine jet black, stained with sin and evil, and hers golden and beautiful, reflecting a pure heart. That must be it. How fascinating.

Amberstar nodded in agreement. She needed to loosen up, not be so nervous. "With you it isn't that hard." she said with a smile. The moment was one she had dreamed of for a long time. "I've never felt so relaxed and happy in my life." Was it actually possible for her to be happy, after everything she had been through? "What's on your mind?" she asked, beginning to wash his ear. "I know there is something, so might as well tell me. You don't want me to drag it out of you."

Jetstreak sighed, unwilling to share the somewhat silly thought. "I know it sounds really weird, but I was thinking about fur. And how it could relate to your personality. I was just thinking if the color of your fur reflected your personality. Like you, you have a heart made of gold. And look at your fur." He gave it a lick. "It matches your personality. And me, with my black pelt, it's like I carry around all my sins with me and all my faults, burned forever on my fur. Black heart, black fur, right?" He sighed again. "Sorry. That sounded really stupid."

Amberstar listened to him, the thought did seem a bit silly at first, but she wouldn't dare admit it. "Well you may have our pelt colors right, but what is on the outside doesn't reflect what is on the inside. First, you only think I have a heart of gold, I wish it were true, but I'm not that kind of cat. And second, no your black pelt doesn't reflect your personality at all. It is the one thing that makes me want to see more of. And your heart can't be black. If you love me like I love you a black heart is not capable of love." she said, the fur on her tail pricking up at the thought of him putting himself down. "Stop being so negative about yourself." she added batting at his ear with her paw.

Jetstreak stood up before her, unsheathing his claws mock menacingly with a playful grin flitting about his face. "How do you know black hearts aren't capable of love?" he mock-growled, diving at her with claws outstretched before diving aside at the last second and rolling past her. "If you love me like I love you," he continued, voice slightly muffled, "then your heart must be made of gold. I've never seen anyone so very capable of affection." Jetstreak leapt again to his feet, pretending to hiss angrily.

Amberstar watched Jetstreak, her eyes blinked fondly as she watched him. "Everyone knows that black hearts aren't capable of love." she said now laughing. "Fine, its made of whatever you want it to be." Amberstar finally joked. "Well, if you are going to be like that the entire time, I think I will go hunting." she said, getting onto her paws and padding slowly away. Not too long after making this statement, she stopped dead in her tracks and ran to Jetstreak, pouncing on him. "How could I not love someone like you?"

The grin growing more pronounced, Jetstreak rolled over on his back and kicked mock feebly at her with his hind legs. "Oh, you've destroyed me." he whined mock-pitifully. "Such a fierce and brave warrior queen. She's vanquished the evil lord and now seeks tougher prey."

Amberstar jumped off, she had never had this much fun before, even when she was an apprentice, she couldn't remember enjoying herself this much. "I guess I have to seek tougher prey, since my last prey was so weak." she hissed playfully. Her tail swooshed back and forth, and within a few seconds she jumped back on Jetstreak, pinning him down, or well halfway pinning him down, and trying to stop laughing. "Now what are you gonna do?"
