"Gerarrrd!" Lily yowled. She listened to the faint sound of her voice coming back to her. She liked how it did that. There was a crash and Gerard came speeding out of a nearby house. He probably dragged a mouse inside. Humans always screamed when you did that. "Gerard! There you are... Why were you inside that house? I thought you said you weren't a house cat. Anyways, you know how you're always talking about those clans? I found one of those wild cats! She's locked in the house next door and I think she wants out. Do you think she'll take us back to her clan? Maybe I can become one of those warriors you're always talking about." Gerard stared at her blankly as she went on. "Lily. I get the point. Just take me to this stranger." She glared at him. "I'm not taking you anywhere if you're going to be rude. Interupting me like that!" "Fine. I'm sorry for interupting you. Please, will you take me to this strange cat?" He was in no mood to talk to her. Lily was the most difficult cat to talk to in all of twolegplace. Lily made a big show of sitting down, wrapping her tail around her paws and licking at her chest. She jumped though when Gerard shouted and gave in, leading him back while mumbling things under her breath.

When she spotted Lily and the new cat coming back, she smiled. "You are back! With a friend! Your name?" Lightstep asked friendly. "I am Lightstep, from the Clans." The she-cat flicked her tail. "I'm sure you two would know how to get me out of here." Her ginger paw kneaded the windowsills excitedly, wanting to escape as fast as she could.

Gerard cocked his head. "Lightstep? It's nice to meet you. My name is Gerard. Ah!" He couldn't hold back a grin. "If you want out you'll have to tell me about your life. What clan are you from? What's your home like? What are your laws? Surely any group of cats have rules they follow. I'm curious. I've heard of this warrior code. What is it?" He pawed at the glass. "Tell me all that stuff and I'll get you out before-" "Before you answer any of those," Lily budded in, " You have to promise to take us back to your clan." Gerard gave her an icy look but she ignored him.

Lightstep was dizzy with questions, but decided it was the only way. "Alright, I'll answer your questions and take you to my Clan, but it doesn't mean they will accept you two....or three, if Chloe wants to come. First...I'm from ShadowClan, my home is in the forest, but the part with pine trees. Our laws are the Warrior Code. The Warrior Code is an ancient list of laws. There are many, and I can't think of many off the top of my head. A few are...You may not steal other Clans' prey, you may not mate with cats from other Clans...There are so many more, but you will learn them when you get to the Clans." after she said that, she breathed in and out slowly.

Gerard soaked up everything she said like a sponge. He couldn't hold back his excitement anymore and his tail began twitching. "Shadowclan? How interesting. What is this Starclan? I've heard so many talking about it and I'm beginning to get confused. They are cats, yes?" He almost forgot about his promise to free her until Lily spoke up. "Ger, can we just let her out and go? I'm sure you'll figure all this out later." She sighed. "Oh, right." He said grinning still. "Right then. One moment." He jumped down from the window sill and ran over to the door. He studied the doorknob for a moment then jumped up and twisted it around, using the pads of his paws as grips. The door slid open an inch and he pushed his way inside. "I'm an expert at getting in, and out, of human places."

Chloe nodded, she had been wanting to get outside herself. She wanted to see what it was like being in a whole new world to her. "Thanks, I'm actually not too small for my age. My sister was only a little bigger than me." she retorted, not wanting to actually say she was small. "Me in the clans?" she asked, her eyes sparkled as she tried to imagine herself in the clans. "Apprentices?" she asked. "I want to meet you kits, they sound fun. And Willow always said I asked a bunch of questions." she said smiling.
"I really don't know too much about it either, sorry. I've only been here a few days. But I can try and answer any question you have." she replied.
"Maybe I can find my sister!" Chloe exclaimed, as she heard the mentioning of possibly going to a clan. "That would be awesome if I can be with her again. I won't have to deal with all of my brother's and my perfectsister." she hissed when she mentioned about her sister, Dawn.

Lightstep nodded and jumped from the windowsill, trotting out the door. "Finally, I'm free. But...I don't know which way to go. Do you guys know which way the forest is?" She suddenly felt really lost. All the dens looked the same, and they seemed to go forever down the street.
They might know which way to go. she thought.

Chloe looked at the cat that had just opened the door. That was amazing! She jumped down the same way she had gotten up, careful to not fall flat on her face. When she finally made it to the ground, she followed after Lightstep. This was definately something she had never seen before...outside. She had been dazed by everything and then she suddenly felt a strange sensation. It was the same sensation that occured when she was asleep, but now it was happening when she was awake. She was seeing through the eyes of her sister, Willow, or more or less what had happened to her sister the day of their seperation. 'Willow must be thinking about this!' she exclaimed. She was now deep in her sister's mind. When she came to, once again, she looked at Lightstep. "My sister came this same way." she mumbled. "If they don't know then, I can try and see if I can find out which way she went." Chloe said.

Lightstep nodded, then looked at Chloe. "How will you find out?" she mewed curiously. Surely this kit cannot contact StarClan! Who will she ask?... Her paws shifted uneasily. When, and if they get back to the forest, will her Clan their new applicants? ShadowClan is not famous for taking in kittypets. That's ThunderClan's job...

Lily burst into laughter. "You wild cats are hopeless. I thought you were supposed to be good at finding your way around places. My home is near the forest. Come on." She trotted off down the sidewalk mewing happily when small kids walked by with their parents, pointing and giggling. Gerard focused on Lightstep. "You think you could introduce me to Thunderclan? I've been so eager to actually talk to one of them."

"I don't know if ThunderClan will let me introduce you personally...We are a kind of rivals, enemies, I guess." she explained. "But maybe I will." Her pads started to ache after a few minutes of walking on the hard, hot, black stuff. "What is this stuff we're walking on, it hurts!" Lightstep mewed.

Chloe looked up at the she-cat. Her silver eyes softened as she realized that this could possible be her last time at what she knew to be home. The thought floated in her mind for a while before she answered Lightstep. "It's hard to explain."
It really was hard for her to explain her connection with her sister. She didn't know how it was possible, it just happened. The connection had been distracted a bit lately, and she didn't know why. At least she had something to occupy herself with now.
Chloe was glad when the other cat spoke up, since her sister wasn't seeming to be of much help at the time. She followed the group, her legs moving as fast as they possibly could to catch up. She was about to ask the same question Lightstep had asked. This stuff did hurt, and her paws felt like they were going to burn off. "It doesn't matter to me what clan I am introduced to. I just want to find Willow." she murmered, not caring if anyone heard or not.

She looked at Chloe. "Willow is your sister, right?" Lightstep asked, and looked at the sky. "That's a pretty name." Then there was a loud lurching sound, and she stopped and flattened herself to the ground. It came closer and closer, and she turned around to find a huge monster coming directly for her. The she-cat yowled and leaped to the side of the road in a panic state.
"I hate those things." she mewed under her breath.

Gerard gave an amused mrow and smiled at her. "You must watch where you're going, wild cat. It's more dangerous here that you'd expect. Lily?" The young she-cat had dissapeared for a moment, but when she reappeared she was grinning. "There's a young boy down the path here that gives you treats. They're so tasty. I don't see why you avoid the humans, Ger." "They can't be trusted with their big beasts and careless ways." He said with a snort.

Lightstep nodded. "I don't like those two-legs. They're strange and so alien." she mewed, and jumped as a pair of circles rolled by, a twoleg kit riding them. [bicycle] "I just don't understand them, and I guess that's why I don't like them." The she-cat looked up. They were so close to the forest. She almost thought the others could hear her heart beating she was so excited. To see her mate and kits, to see the forest. But they had at least a day's journey. Lighstep hoped Blackclaw and Gingerpaw and Molepaw weren't too worried yet.
