The Twoleg kits were yelling in high-pitched voices, and the carrying case for the poor she-cat was being swung from side to side. The cat hissed and the kits stopped and set the cage down on the table hard. A small, chubby hand unhooked the door and Lightstep bolted out, jumping off the table and almost running into the wall. "Oh no! Where am I?" she mewed franticly, looking around her. The Twoleg queen said something, and brought the cat some milk and the tasteless pellets she heard from stories. Lightstep sniffed it and turned her head in distaste, instead, she lapped up some milk and pushed the pellets into the remaining milk in the bowl. She tried the pellets. They weren't bad. But they weren't as good as fresh mouse. Well, I have to eat... Lightstep ate the milk pellets and then looked at her surroundings. It was a very big den. There were big white trees, and above the trees there was another floor. Those are weird trees... There was a hill that led up to the floor the trees were holding up. She decided to look around up there, but before she could go anywhere, two big hands picked her up. Lightstep did not want to allow that, so she shook herself free, rather than using her claws, and sprinted up the hill. Up there was a lot like it was down the hill. Then she noticed something else. It was a clear part of the wall, and Lightstep jumped onto the branch underneath it. The she-cat looked through, and could see outside. There was a breeze down by her paws, and she put her head down by her paws. Her face felt the cool air. A hole! There is a hole in the wall! Lightstep started to squeeze through the hole when the twoleg kits burst into the room. One screamed. The other ran out of the room and down the hill. Lightstep was outside, and she jumped onto the top of the den. "Ah, free at--" a huge twoleg monster hurtled down the road, making the she-cat scramble back inside.

Through the clear spots in the wall, Lightstep could tell it was getting late. The twolegs had fed her again, this time giving her milk and a few pieces of a delicous meat she had never tasted. She caught a mouse up the hill, and ate it quickly, pushing the rest of it through the tiny hole in the wall. The she-cat would have tried to escape again, but the twolegs made the hole in the wall smaller, so she couldn't get out. As the ginger cat walked carefully down the hill, a bigger twoleg broke part of the wall, making such a clean cut it was in the shape of a rectangle. It stomped in, taking off a layer of fur, and stepped out of it's own paws! It talked in a low voice. Then it looked directly at Lightstep and walked over to the frightened cat. The hole in the wall was still there, so she ran between his legs to the hole, but right when she was only a fox's length there, the kit closed the hole up, and the cat skidded to a halt. All of the twolegs laughed. She slinked over to a big log and jumped up on it, and it was suprisingly soft and comfortable, so she curled up and slept.

Why did she have to be taken away from her parents and her siblings? The young kit didn't understand. How was she suppose to, being only a few moons old? She missed her family, speaking of which, why was her head feeling so weird? Chloe blinked her silver eyes as she awoke from a dream she has had alot lately. A dream which she see's her sister, somewhere in the forest...but where? If only she knew where Willow was. Luckily, she had a strong connection with Willow, and knew exactly what her sister was feeling and most of the time..thinking. It could be a little weird at times, but the young cat didn't mind. It meant that she could at least be with her sister in thought. As the kit yawned, awaking from her nap, she blinked her silver eyes once again. Chloe looked around her realizing she was back in the twoleg home, and no longer in the forest. She sighed and exited the bed that she had been given a week ago...the day she had been forced to come and live in this home. The bed was huge, and the kit had room to roll around and play in. Her tiny paws padded out of the room of the twolegs and into another room. She was becoming more aware of her surroundings as the days passed by. She saw a plate of white liquidy stuff laying in the kitchen and began to purr. That was her meal. The twolegs had not tried her on anything other than this delicious stuff. It made her think of when she was smaller and with her siblings. It gave her a warm and happy feeling. Chloe lapped the warm stuff with her tongue and licked her mouth as she got her fill. She returned back into the other room, and spotted something up high. It looked like another cat! She wasn't quite big enough to jump up that high yet, and instead decided to try and talk to the cat. "Hello?" Chloe mewed, looking up at Lightstep.

Lightstep jumped with suprise. She hadn't expected for anyone else to live there other than her and the twolegs. "Umm, hello." she mewed politely, then asked, "Who are you? You're a kittypet, right?" She leapt down to the other cat's level. The other cat was just a little kit, poor thing, probably was separated from her mother. The she-cat thought, blinking.
Her ginger coat gleamed in the light from above. That's weird, she couldn't see the sun. How do they capture the sun in little bulbs like that? If the cats back in the forest could do that, it'd be a huge help...

Chloe watched the she-cat, smiling slightly as she realized she had startled Lightstep. She didn't understand half of what Lightstep had just said but jumped as the she-cat reached her level. How could anyone jump like that. She sat, her eyes sparkling with amazement.
"I'm.....Chloe" the kit said nervously. "What is a kittypet?" she finally asked after a few moments. "Who are you? How did you get here? When did you get here?" And so the questions began. One thing Chloe was good at was asking twenty million questions.

"Chloe." she purred. "I like that name. And to answer your questions in order, a kittypet is a cat that is not a warrior and lives with the Twolegs. I am Lightstep, from ShadowClan. If you want, maybe sometime else I can talk about the Clans. I was kidnapped by some Twolegs in the forest, and I got here this morning. I want to ask you some questions, but it seems like you have more you haven't asked me. Feel free to question anything." Lightstep smiled at the small cat's suprise. She's a cute little thing, hardly bigger than a rabbit. she thought, looking nervously at the Twoleg kits running around the room.

Chloe listened, but still being young she was distracted easily. This new cat brought excitement. She didn't understand half of what Lightstep was saying, but she nodded anyways. "I would love to hear about the clans sometime. It seems like a good story." she said purring. She thought that Lightstep was also funny. "Don't worry about them, all you have to do is scratch them, and they go away." the kit said, meaning the Twolegs. She also didn't quite understand that not everything was meant to be pounced on and scratched.
"I always have questions, one of my sisters, well my twin sister, always said that the day I run out of questions to ask, I will be dead." this made Chloe purr as she remembered Willow.
"I guess I will just ask a few more, then you can go. I just want to know what a twoleg is, I heard you say something about a twoleg and I have no idea what that is. What is a warrior? I heard you say something about that too. And how did you get up on that thing, (couch) I don't know how to get up there." she mewed, having to stop and catch her breath before each question.

Lightstep nodded, but kept an eye on the Twolegs. "Oh, of course. Twolegs are those things over there." she pointed with her paw to the children. "And warriors are the cats in our clans who protect the clan with their lives. But if I stay here much longer, I will teach you of the Clans. I will not stay forever, though." The she-cat almost forgot the last question. "Oh, and all you have to do is jump, really. You can jump, right?" This little one is quite chatty. she thought, and licked her paw.

Lily stared up at the window ledge, measuring the distance. She had heard the commotion from before. Probably a street cat, She thought. Street cats usually panicked when the humans captured them. She cocked her head, curious now. "Maybe they'll want to play." She said hopefully before springing up onto the window ledge. She peered inside and took in everything almost instantly. There were the humans that normally lived there, she had seen them before, but there was also two cats she had never seen before. The one was still young, but the other seemed older, stronger, wilder... "A wild cat?" She gasped. She was surprised that any of them would go near the humans territory. She put a paw up on the window. Maybe the humans would let her in, recognizing her from next door and let her in. Lily had always dreamed of having a good conversation with one of the wild cats. They were so interesting, so free to do whatever they wanted. They never had to wait for their human to feed them or be locked behind bars when they got to noisy or playful. Maybe she can introduce me to the others, She thought eagerly.

Chloe watched as Lightstep showed her what a twoleg was. "Oh, you mean those things!" she exclaimed. "I never knew what to call them. My mother never really told me what to call them, and well I guess she might have, but I was trying to play with my brothers. They are mean. But my sister isn't mean. She is nice. My momther and father couldn't tell us apart. We had fun with that." The little kit went on, talking about who knows what.
"Warriors." Chloe's eyes were sparkling now, as she thought of what it would be like to live in a clan. "Why can't you stay? You are the first cat I've seen since I was taken from my mother." she said, now her eyes were filling with tears.
"Jump?" she asked, not realizing that was the word for what she wanted to do. "No, I can't. I wish I could. I admit I am small, and that is what makes it hard for me to jump so high. I can run fast, though. I had to or my brothers would hurt me." she added. Yes, she was definately chatty, but that was to be expected when she hadn't see any cat since her seperation from her parents and siblings.

Lightstep sighed. "I just can't stay. I have to protect my clan and my kits and my mate, so I have to leave eventually. They'll worry about me." She noticed the other cat in the window, and padded over, jumping onto the sill. The window was cracked a little, and the she-cat tilted her head in a question. I wonder if Chloe knows this cat? she thought, turning her head to the other cat.

Lily smiled and lowered her face to the crack. She took a moment to sniff at Lightstep before speaking. "Hello. My name's Lily and I live next door. I've never seen you around here before." She had heard what they had said about warriors and a clan. "Are you one of those wild cats from the forest? My friend Gerard said that they lived in a big group called Thunderclan. Hey, you aren't from Thunderclan, are you? He's always talking about how he's gonna go find these other clans some day. I think he said they were Riverclan and Windclan and some Shadowclan and another I can't remember. I don't think he'll ever actually go though." She actually paused for a moment to take a breath before going on. "I bet he'd love to meet you. He's never really been able to talk to any of the wild cats before because they always shout at him and tell him to go away."

The she-cat nodded. "I am Lightstep from the forest, from ShadowClan." she mewed. "If only I could get outside. Do you know a way?" Lightstep tried to push up the window with her paws. "And if I get out, don't you go thinking you can be warriors, too. ShadowClan doesn't do well with Loners and Kittypets. Maybe you could go to ThunderClan, they accept almost anyone." A little hate was in her tone when she said ThunderClan.

Lily almost fell off the sill in her excitement. "So you're not from Thunderclan? You're from one of the others! Wait here while I get Gerard." She went bounding off, completely ignoring the fact that Lightstep needed to be freed. "He should be hunting mice in the alley this time of day." She said to herself as she ran.

"You have kits?" Chloe asked, her eyes wide with more curiousity. "How old are they? What are their names? Are they nice? Do they know how to play fun games? What are they like?" And the questions began again. With Lightstep mentioning, the word 'kits', that opened another wave of questions.
The kit chased after Lightstep, wondering where the she-cat was going. When she saw her jump onto the sill, she noticed Lily. What was with so many cats in less than a hour? The kit flicked her tail, agitated that she couldn't quite get up there.
Her silver eyes darted across the room, looking for something to help her up. What should I do?the kit thought. She spotted a thing that looked like it reached for the sky.(Step Stool/Ladder) It had three different levels, which wouldn't be too hard to jump if she took her time.
She jumped onto the first level, and then prepared herself for the next level which was a bit higher. When she reached the second level, she looked up at the third, this one would be a challenge. She jumped as far as she could, and almost made it. She dug her claws into the third level, and scrambled up. The next step up was the windowsill. Chloe jumped up onto the sill and looked at Lightstep. "What was that about?" she asked.

Lightstep shrugged. "If only I knew how to get out....Oh." she turned to Chloe. "Good job, clever. Those wits would make up for your size in the Clans." She licked her shoulder. "My kits? Well, their names are Gingerkit and Molekit. They're barely apprentices. Molekit likes to dig, she's a little strange, but nonetheless kind. Gingerkit is sweet, but can be a little bossy. You do ask too many questions. But sometimes that is a good thing." The cat waited for Lily to get back. "I don't know much about this place..Could you tell me a little about it?"
