Crookedtail's sleep was interrupted by the sound of other cats. Blinking her eyes open rapidly she frowned. "Why is there so much noise in the morning?!" She yowled, glaring at the talking cats. "Really, you should have more respect for other cats that are sleeping." The elder's stomach growled with discomfort. Clearing her throat she stormed over to the fresh-kill pile. She picked out a rabbit and quickly began devouring it. Her anger being set off so easily, early in the day, made her even angrier. Although, she still had no intention of trying to fix her temper. Closing her eyes she sighed, burying the bones of the rabbit. She began to stretch, first each leg in turn then her entire body. Licking her muzzle with satisfaction from the meal she tried to forget about this morning's ruckus.

Rainpaw padded over to Crookedtail and bowed his head. "Sorry, Crookedtail, for all the noise this morning. I think I speak for most of us when I say I'm sorry for all the racket this morning. Good morning. Have... Pleasant dreams?" He tried not to acknowledge the incident with his ear.
He licked the pad of his right front paw absent-mindedly.

Mirepaw lay in the apprentice's den, listening to all the chatter. With no reason for him to get up yet, he had decided to simply stay still, slightly enjoying the fact that he could know what was going on simply by being quiet and observing. Judging from the voices he heard, his mentor wasn't up yet anyway.
In fact, his mentor was sleeping soundly. For once, she hadn't been awokened and seemed locked in a dream, her paws and tail twitching.
(Mirrorwind reminds me on one of my new kittens!)

Crookedtail scoffed. "Well instead of fooling around like kits in the morning, you should be doing your apprentice duties!" She snapped. "I haven't seen any of you change my bedding or check my pelt for ticks, like you're supposed to." She glared at Rainpaw, her temper not letting up at all.

Rainpaw's fur puffed a little bit in agitation. ".....Of course......Crookedtail." he meowed, not so polite anymore, and added, "I'll go get Mirepaw. I took care of you yesterday." He padded over to the apprentice and put his paw down in front of Mirepaw's face. "Your turn to do Crookedtail, Mirepaw." he hissed, and unsheathed his claw, scratching on the rock, leaving a small scrape mark. The tom then unsheated his claw and walked by him, waving his tail in the other apprentice's face, then yawning and looked for his mentor.

Mirepaw rose to his feet. And Mirrorwind wondered why he didn't speak to the other cats much? As Rainpaw had so generously shown, the other cats weren't all that eager to get to know him in the first place. Not that he would be more open even if they did, but... still.
He walked over to Crookedtail, flipping his tail in a slight greeting. "What may I do for you this morning?" he managed to ask the elder, half-glad for an excuse to forget about the dream he had had last night. And the night before that, and the night before that.

"I already ate, so you don't have to worry about that." Crookedtail replied, her anger slowly dying down. "You should replace my bedding and check my pelt for ticks with some mouse bile. Go on, do what you need to." The she-cat still frowned, not caring if she wasn't really angry at Mirepaw.

Mirepaw nodded and quickly went off. Soon he returned with new bedding and spread it around neatly, scooting the old bedding out of the way as he went. When he was done with that, he picked up the old bedding and carried it out.
As he carried out his chores, he thought about Mirrorwind. It was odd that she wasn't up yet, she usually woke early. More than a few times he had woken up to find Mirrorwind standing over him, looking out across camp as she allowed her apprentice a few more moments of sleep. He wondered what she would have done had she seen Rainpaw. That cat needed to learn something about respect.
Mirepaw hardly noticed as he carried himself automatically to the mouse bile and began combing through Crookedtail's fur, glazed eyes looking for ticks even as his mind wandered.
